Why practice yoga

To improve physical strength
Today we are often reminded of the necessity to include weight bearing exercise and resistance training in our workouts to improve our bone density and to help prevent Osteoporosis.  Yoga includes both of these.

To Improve your flexibility
Don’t think you have to be flexible to begin yoga—having tight and stiff muscles is very common.  Once you begin to practice yoga, you improve your flexibility over time.

To Improve your circulation
Deep stretching improves your flexibility and circulation.  Stretching is like wringing out a wet rag.  When you stretch you wring out the stale fluids (including toxins), then after releasing the stretch, fresh oxygenated blood flows into the area.

To relieve stress and relax
The practice of yoga improves blood flow to all the cells of the body, and revitalizes the nerve cells.  This flow strengthens the nervous system and its capacity for enduring stress.  And the best part, yoga classes always end with a rest!

To loose weight
The practice of yoga makes you feel better, therefore increasing your awareness and concern regarding the foods you eat.  Continued practice, slowly but naturally increases your interest in living a healthier lifestyle.

To heal
Yoga is therapeutic and may provide relief for a number of aliments such as, migraine headaches, high and low blood pressure, asthma, acid reflex, fatigue, menstrual disorders, insomnia, thyroid imbalances, anxiety, depression, arthritis, back, knee and hip problems including sciatica and many, many more.

CAUTION, THERE MAY BE SOME SIDE EFFECTS:
A better nights sleep, an overall feeling of well being, improved coordination and concentration, increased level of energy, improved physical strength, less aches and pains.  You may even find it easier to breathe.
"Don't practice for cosmetic beauty, practice for cosmic beauty.  Practice for inner beauty and inner light.  Go from cosmetic to cosmic state."

"Total attention with total awareness is the end aim of yoga."
